There are three major types of Dog Performance Shows. These types are the traditional agility show, fly ball or flying disc show, and extreme stunts show. Each one features a variety of different events specific to its category.

The traditional agility show is usually open for all breeds. There are reserved events for poodles only as they are fierce competitors. Larger dogs have a difficult time with some of the challenges that smaller breeds do not.

At an agility show, there are many challenges like the A-frame, bar jump, closed tunnel and dog walking see saw. Breeds that compete best with the dog walking see saw are Golden Retrievers and Poodles. Dog breed collars can often be seen on many dogs. These are made with nylon webbing that feature these breeds among many others.

The fly ball and flying disc shows are very popular right now. Most breeds and mixed breeds can be strong competitors at this sport. Many audience members and fans of this event argue that it is by far, the most entertaining.

Medium size breeds can be seen bouncing as high as six feet when catching a flying disc. Retrievers will lock their eyes on a fly ball and often times step into the audience.

The Dog Performance Show that is gaining popularity the fastest, is the extreme stunt show. This type of event features all of the most awe inspired canine talents. Extreme stunt shows exemplify the most exciting talents of its competitors. Some of the events include freestyle dancing, high jumping and jump roping. It is common for medium sized and mixed breed dogs to attend these competitions.
